Ya know, I shouldn't be so hard on people.
I was just reading back over my posts for the last several months.
I am just NOT kind to some folks. However, I will not apologize for a single word I've put in my blog because this is my vent space and a way to make sure I don't lose details about certain moments in my life.
But sitting back and reading over my old entries, it made me sit back and wonder why I am so hard on people.
Now, I know that some people have got the worms, there is always something eating them. I try my best not to be like that. But, there are some things that do irk me to no end, stupidity, injustice, lack of common sense, seeing bad people having good things happen to them while the good people are getting screwed.
I guess it's the state of things in the world right now.
I mean, George W. Bonehead, just now partially accepted that global warming is real. He kills children to line his own pockets. He forces people to fight wars that shouldn't exist and have no basis in fact. He blatantly lies to the American public, his Vice President sits and rakes in the profit from Halliburton, and all the while, we sit and do nothing.
It sounds oddly familiar. Oh, that's because I watch the same things happen in There. They don't declare unjust wars, and they don't kill children, but hmm...let's look...well, we've got one guy (who will remain nameless) making sure that the members are fleeced for every last dime. (That would be called lining the pockets) what's worse is that guess what, members do it to each other. Might as well, because that is the example that is being set by the management. We've got staffers who lie to the membership, we've got packs of thugs running around unchecked because they are favored (U.S. Attorney's scandal anyone?). But, who can blame them, they are just following the example of the people who run the country.
Now if I had my way, I would definitely call for George W. Bonehead to be impeached. Unfortunately, we don't have "Deep Throat" to blow the whistle and bring him down because all the administration does is inspire fear. Big Brother watches over all of our shoulders. It's a shame that we live in a country that was founded on Life, Liberty and the persuit of happiness, and was fought for by men who KNEW what democracy and freedom were all about. Now, we have a man who thinks he is king running the country. Didn't we kick a king out for trying to impose injustice on us?
But I am being a little harsh I guess. I mean, I voted in the last election. I took what actions I could. I always say, when you don't speak out when you see injustice, then you just get what you deserve.
Cowardice has become everyone's favorite option to take.
I have watched over the last week, a woman who was offered a job by a prestigious company and was told that all of her needs would be taken care of, and she turned down the job for just one reason. Fear. Fear that has been hammered into her over the last seven years by a tyrannical boss. If I had my way, I'd rip that guy's face off. But I can't have my way because I have more class than to stoop to the level of tyrants and cowards. Now all I have left for the woman is disdain, disrespect and pity. What a shame, good talent wasted.
I have no respect for cowards, I have no respect for anyone who will not stand up for themselves, be counted as an individual and make their presence known.
Last week, I turned on the TV and watched V for Vendetta. I love the sound of Hugo Weaving's voice. It's so very soothing. But, among the smoothness of his voice, the story came through loud and clear. That you can't sit back and do nothing when tyrants try to ruin the world you live in. I watched and cried realizing that if I sit back and do nothing, if I don't vote or if I don't stand up and speak out when I see that things aren't going the way they should, then I just get what I deserve, and that is the fate of a coward who deserves nothing more than to lick the boot soles of the brave.
Every human being on this planet has the right to live in peace and happiness. What makes some happy might make others unhappy, but it should be our choice to decide when and where we choose to be happy. Soldiers dying in Iraq aren't happy. They are being forced into a place that they don't want to be. I support every man and woman in our armed forces that are fighting in Iraq. What I don't support is the President and HIS war.
When I go into my virtual worlds, it is my time to relax. I don't go there to be belittled, lied to or made into a villain because I choose to speak out when things aren't going right. In Uru, it's a non-issue. In There it is an issue. In Uru, it's almost an Utopian society. They believe in problem solving, not drama making. In There, when I go in it is almost traumatic because it is run the same way the U.S. is and I think that it is a shame. It's all about the money to Therians, and I pity each and every one of them. They backstab each other just to get ahead. But as in the real world, there are some who are trying to make a positive difference, unfortunately, they can't make much of an impact because of the state of that world.
So, why am I so hard on people? Well, it's probably because I see so much injustice and so much ignorance and so many people walking around with a permanent case of cranial rectumitis. I just can't help but speak up and say,
Uh, NO, I don't think so.
I'm grateful I have a reputation as being an intimidating brick wall. At least I can sleep at night knowing that I have made someone's life better by making sure that I did my part to educate and to set a positive example.
I guess I'm doing my best impersonation of a Salmon, always swimming up-stream and against the current.
But hey, that's just me of course.
