The Wait is over.

Yep, the wait is over. It seems I do not have what it takes to go the distance. I got the news. I came in 3rd. Now 3rd place out of 12 people isn't bad. The disappointing part of it all is my prize is a useless to me PSP. So, Ryan, bud, you got yourself a new toy courtesy of the There Fashion Challenge. The one thing that this contest really did for me was crystalize what was important to me. After seeing I got third place, and understanding that I will never be accepted as an artist by my virtual peers just made me realize that it's time I traded my virtual life in for a real one. Real life...OMG, I haven't done that in close to 3 years, wonder what it's like? LOL. Before I moved to Montreal, my real life wasn't bad. Actually, it wasn't bad at all. I never waited in line at nightclubs, I could get a table at Spago without a reservation, all my friends were rich, beautiful and a lot of fun. They were very superficial, but hey, that's Vegas for you...

And the waiting is the hardest part.

I'm trying my best to figure out why I am so edgy lately. I've finally gotten part of the kitchen done, so it's not that. My husband is happy with me, so it's not that. Deep down I know what it is...it's waiting on the results of the voting from the There Fashion Challenge Finale. I'm not really thinking about it, I'm concentrating on housework, but it's sitting like dead weight in the back of my mind. My subconscious is definitely not letting me off the hook until the announcement of the results. On June 1st, there was a big shake up in There. One of my friends, a fellow designer, gave me a buzz on Yahoo Instant Messenger with a link to a blog called the " There Fashion Challenge ". As I watched the video entitled, " Do you have what it takes ?"My heart flew directly into my throat and I instantly started to have anxiety about sending in a portfolio. Now I had been having enough trouble mustering the guts to send out my real graphic ...

People who have no manners.

/begin rant Ok, so my friends in There know that I own the first surf shop ever created in our virtual world. I sell surfboards, bathing suits, patio sets...you know, the regular beach themed gear... In There, on Wednesday's and Friday's we have a data merge of all of the new products that member developers have created and submitted to There. It's lovingly called "The Push". Now the push for those of us who own stores and put vehicles in them, like my Surfboard hoverboards, bacios and hoverboats, we know that when the push comes through, all of our vehicles that we put out to display are going to drop through the collision mesh and fall to the ground. No biggie, you just have to remember to go in every Wednesday and Friday and reset them. All you have to do is change the permissions for 5 minutes, reset your stuff and change the permissions back so that people can't shoplift the vehicles you put out for display while you're not there. Well, one of my bigg...

Apartment in Shambles

Today, I've decided to start a blog because all of the things that have happened to me over the summer are now over. I now get the chance to devote my time to finding a job, spending time with my husband and FINALLY finishing my apartment. Why is it so important that I finish my apartment? 1. Because it's giving me the heebie-geebies. 2. I want to walk around in a pristine home. 3. I've got company coming at the end of September. 4. My husband deserves to walk in to a beautiful home after he puts in a hard day of work. Why is it not done yet? 1. There. The virtual world www.there.com . I am an active part of that online community. I teach classes in Photoshop, I am the Assistant Dean at the University of There, I fly with the Hairier Legion Flight Team (yes I know that Harrier is misspelled, copyright issues in the virtual world) which is the equivalent of the Blue Angels, we're a precision flight team, and I was on the Fall 2005 Members Advisory Board (MAB) that ate si...
